Practice CEO is educational coaching software. It compares the numbers you enter with typical ranges and suggests things to consider. It is not tax, legal, accounting, investment, insurance or valuation advice, and it is not a CPA firm, tax preparer, law firm, bank, broker-dealer or investment adviser. It does not prepare or file tax returns.
It is software, and it can be wrong
The scorecard and suggestions are produced automatically by software applying written rules to the numbers you give it. It is not a person and it does not know your practice beyond those numbers. Sorting a P&L or bank file can misread a line. For bank files we show every line and where we put it so you can correct it; for a P&L we add the lines into groups, so check the totals against your own report. Check anything that matters before you act, and ask your own CPA, attorney or financial adviser about taxes, owner pay, retirement plans, entity setup, leases and loans.
The year-end checklist
The year-end checklist is an educational tool. It is not tax, legal, accounting or investment advice. We are not CPAs and do not prepare tax returns, represent clients before the IRS, estimate your tax, or provide personalized investment advice. Bring these numbers to your CPA for tax planning. Published figures come from IRS and California Franchise Tax Board sources, each listed with its source at the bottom of the year-end checklist page; check that they are current before relying on them.
Ranges are ranges
Typical ranges come from published dental-industry sources (dental is where we started) and our own estimates (including for California) for general practices, as a share of collections. They differ by region, payer mix, specialty, how a line is counted and which source you read. A line outside a range is a question to ask, not proof of a problem. Dollar figures are rough sizes: for a line above its typical range, the difference if it moved back to the top of the range; for a line inside its range but high in it, the difference if it moved about halfway toward the middle. They are not forecasts or promises.

Everything on this site is free right now, and nothing can be bought today. Paid plans start later; the planned price for one practice is $49 a month, the office manager seat is free and extra team seats are planned at $9 a month each.
